46–47 Catherine Street, Limerick CityGoogle MapsArrow
  • Located on Catherine Street, the EVA International offices and archive occupy the first floor above a bar named The Commercial.
  • EVA moved into this office space in March 2020, one week before the first Covid-19 lockdown.
  • This site was one of seven listed venues used for Phase 1 of the 39th edition of EVA International in 2020. Eimear Walshe (Ireland) and Áine McBride (b. 1987, Ireland) exhibited newly commissioned works, selected by Anne Tallentire (b. 1949, UK) and Merve Elveren (b. 1985, Turkey) as part of EVA’s Platform Commission initiative.
  • In the top floor of the building, Walshe’s single-channel video The Land Question: Where the fuck am I supposed to have sex? presented a brief history of land contestation in Ireland, exploring relations between Ireland’s housing crisis, landlordism, and sexuality.
