Originally built between 1779–81, this church was rebuilt in the late 19th century to the designs of Limerick architect Martin Morris.
This site was one of 23 venues for the 31st edition of EVA in 2007, curated by Klaus Ottmann (b. 1964, Germany).
St. Michael’s church was one of numerous sites for a project by Miriam Lohan (b. 1975, Ireland) titled Ringing Limerick. On 7 May 2007, between the times of 11:15am and 11:45am, the artist organised 13 churches around Limerick city to ring their bells simultaneously.
This performance was recorded and available to listen to after the event.
