Shannon Rowing Club
- The clubhouse was built in 1902 for the Shannon Rowing Club. It was designed by William Clifford Smith in the distinct style of the Edwardian Arts and Crafts movement.
- The Shannon Rowing Club is recognised as one of Ireland’s oldest sporting institutions.
- This site was one of ten listed venues for the 35th edition of EVA in 2012, curated by Annie Fletcher (b. 1971, Ireland) and titled After the Future. This was the year EVA made the change to its current biennial format and took on the name EVA International.
- The ALL Collective’s project, CATA – Come And Talk About presented here, aimed to emphasise the importance of water and the River Shannon to Limerick as an amenity, resource and attraction. Through a series of public events, workshops and projects, ALL Collective explored and refined their interest and intention in raising public awareness of the Shannon’s presence in the city and its potential as a cultural, environmental and economic asset.
