This late 19th-century building’s original function is unknown but it is thought that it may have been a market building.
Between 1975 and 1985, it was used as a garage, called Glentworth Garage.
It now houses the Limerick Youth Service, which was founded in 1973 and is the country’s largest voluntary youth organisation.
This site was one of 12 listed venues for the 28th edition of EVA in 2004, curated by Zdenka Badovinac (b.1958, Slovenia) and titled Imagine Limerick.
Here Mark Cullen (b. 1960, Ireland) and Brian Duggan (b. 1971, Ireland) presented their work Short Shorts (2003).
Short Shorts was a screening of a series of original short films produced over a nine-month period through weekly workshops with youth participants in Tallaght, Dublin.
