8 Sarsfield Street, LimerickGoogle MapsArrow
  • Studio Saol is located on the corner of Sarsfield and Henry Street to form the end of a terrace of relatively intact late Georgian buildings. Characterised by its unusual corner entrance bay, it is more typical of late nineteenth-century commercial buildings.
  • In 1956 it was established as Billy Higgins Clothing, considered one of the most recognisable landmark retail outlets for menswear and womenswear in the city, until Billy Higgins retired in 2023.
  • This site was one of 19 venues used for the 41st edition of EVA International in 2025 presented as part of the Guest Programme, It Takes a Village, curated by Eszter Szakács in collaboration with the EVA team.
  • That year, Eimear Walshe (b. 1992) presented a multi-channel video installation and an operatic soundtrack housed in an immersive sculpture installation, titled ROMANTIC IRELAND (2024). It was presented as part of the National Tour following Walshe’s representation of Ireland at the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
