The Holy Family Parish Church in Southill was built in 1970 through the generosity of the priests, sisters, teachers and the people of the parish. The building doubled as a community hall until the church was refurbished in 1990–96 under the supervision of the architect Thomas A. Ryan.
This site was one of 23 venues for the 31st edition of EVA in 2007, curated by Klaus Ottmann (b. 1964, Germany).
Holy Family Church was one of numerous sites for a project by Miriam Lohan (b. 1975, Ireland) titled Ringing Limerick. On 7 May 2007, between the times of 11:15am and 11:45am, the artist organised 13 churches around Limerick city to their bells simultaneously.
This performance was recorded and available to listen to after the event.
