St Mary’s Church was built in 1930–32 to the designs of the architectural firm Ashlin and Coleman, which comprised George Coppinger Ashlin and Thomas Coleman.
This site was one of 23 venues for the 31st edition of EVA in 2007, curated by Klaus Ottmann (b. 1964, Germany).
St. Mary’s Church was one of numerous sites of a project by Miriam Lohan (b. 1975, Ireland) titled Ringing Limerick. On 7 May 2007, between 11:15am and 11:45am, the artist organised 13 churches around Limerick city to ring their bells simultaneously.
